“It all started from curiosity,” Tony shared.
Tony was born and raised in Hong Kong but he often flew to visit his grandparents in mainland China. These trips sparked his curiosity about how the pilot controlled the plane and what the world looked like inside of the cockpit. He landed his first job at the Hong Kong International Airport, working the baggage claim and check-in counter after high school. From there, he moved to San Diego, CA to chase his dream of becoming a pilot.
Tony joined United Aviate when he was a First Officer and then upgraded to Captain at our United Express carrier CommuteAir. Upon completing his training, Tony transitioned to United as a First Officer. He was even part of the crew on the inaugural flight from Guam (GUM) to Haneda (HND).
He is proud to uphold United’s Core4 values of caring, safety, dependability and efficiency.
“The Core4 is not just helping me to be a better crew member, but also to be a better person, friend and husband,” he said.
Tony is also a mentor for Professional Asian Pilots Association (PAPA) and continues to remind himself and others that persistence can achieve success.
