Introduction
We’re always excited to share more Aviate participant spotlights, and this time we’re celebrating participants who have trained at United’s wholly owned flight school, United Aviate Academy (UAA).
As a final reminder, UAA’s application for their next class of aviators will close today, October 30, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. If you dream of becoming a pilot at United, UAA’s comprehensive flight training program will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to reach one of our flight decks.
Visit their website for updated information about UAA, including tuition costs and eligibility requirements. Or, if you have a question about the application process, check out their frequently asked questions.
Back to topMiranda G. - First Officer at GoJet Airlines
Miranda G.’s interest in aviation first sparked when she worked with a family with an aviation background who inspired her to become a flight attendant. When she learned that United Aviate Academy’s applications had opened, she decided to go for a different dream; becoming a pilot!
“I thought ‘why not,’ and took the leap,” Miranda shared.
Miranda knew she wanted industry-leading flight instruction from a supportive company that valued the voices of everyone.
She is now working on her flight training with GoJet Airlines, one of Aviate’s United Express carrier partners, as a First Officer. She’s also held several roles while training at UAA, including Standardization Lead and Assistant Chief Pilot.
Back to topGrace D. - First Officer at CommuteAir
Grace didn’t know she wanted to become a pilot, until local pilots in her hometown offered a free prep class for the Private Pilot exam.
After realizing how fun it was to fly and enticed by the various travel opportunities that came with it, she made the choice to keep on that path.
Grace says she chose to start her flight training with United Aviate Academy because of the straightforward path it offered into the aviation industry.
“The opportunity to fly Cirrus aircraft didn’t hurt either,” Grace shared.
Grace is now a First Officer at CommuteAir, one of Aviate’s United Express partners.
Back to topAidan M. - First Officer at CommuteAir
Aidan’s passion for aviation and love for flying stemmed from a desire to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Growing up, he focused on sports rather than flying and even went on to play football in college. But, once he took a discovery flight and began his training, he knew he had made the right decision.
Aidan M. was a student and then Certified Flight Instructor at United Aviate Academy.
“I chose UAA because it was an opportunity to focus all of my training and go to a school that had a flow program to reach my dream airline, United,” Aidan shared.
Seeing the aircraft that the Academy was flying and being a part of the first class also made it a desirable place to be, he said.
Aidan is now building his flight time at CommuteAir.
