On Feb. 15, United and our wholly owned flight school, United Aviate Academy (UAA), were both recognized during the second annual Anthem Awards.

Brought to you by The Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards honors the purpose and mission-driven work of people, companies and organizations worldwide. By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthem Awards define a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their own communities.

UAA Chief of Staff Darryl Wyrick was thrilled to hear the exciting news.

“Here at the Academy, we are truly a beacon of hope,” he said. “We are changing the lives of our students and empowering the minds of children who look to our students as a visual representation of what’s possible. Being recognized for the work that we do daily is truly inspirational, and we’re thankful.”

The Anthem Awards celebrate and champion work across seven core causes: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Education, Art and Culture; Health; Human and Civil Rights; Humanitarian Action and Services; Responsible Technology; and Sustainability, Environment and Climate. With nearly 2,000 submissions from 43 countries around the world and more than 10,000 reviews, we walked away with multiple awards — check out our wins below.

“To receive this recognition after just one year in operation is a little surreal,” said UAA CEO Dana Donati. “With so much work ahead of me, this is a great reminder that there’s purpose in what is being created. And it is my hope that I can continue to add value to the people around me.”
